Maple Syrup Days | Past & Present
Saturday, March 17th | 9am-3pm | Our final sweet Saturday of the season!
Teens & Adults: $9 | Children ages 4-12: $6 | TNS & THS Members: $6 | Children under 4: free
Join the Troy Historic Village at the Stage Nature Center for just one more Sweet Saturday in March to explore the sugar bush on the grounds of our nature center! What a way to kick off spring then to venture out into the woods, sample sap, participate in hands-on activities to learn all about maple sugaring.
All participants will have an opportunity to visit our "Sap Masters" inside our sugar shed where you will watch them operate a wood-stoked sap evaporator that turns gallons of maple sap into jars of delicious maple syrup.
During the tour, we will walk with historical interpreters from the Troy Historic Village, including "pioneers" Chester and Zenas Goodrich from the 1800's who, long ago produced maple sugar on land that would one day become part of Stage Nature Center.
After the 1.5 hour tour, all will be invited indoors to sample maple treats and children are welcome to make a maple syrup-inspired craft. Inside our lobby, the Troy Historic Village volunteers will be selling Michigan-made maple syrup, cream, candy and more.
Pre-registration is recommended. Walk-ins are welcome the day of the program on a space available basis only. Children under 4 years are free, but must remain with a registered adult for the duration of the tour.
This year's Maple Syrup program is once again sponsored by Whole Foods of Birmingham (Formerly of Troy). Whole Foods will be generously providing mini-waffles and 100% pure Maple Syrup. Thank you!
